Vienna’s Story

When I was tiny we used to have a big stuffed snake that we’d lay by the bottom of the front door. It was brown and furry, with black marble eyes that always stared blankly at a spot somewhere over your right shoulder. One day, it struck me as I passed it that I didn’t know why this snake spent so much of its time lying around by the doormat. I bolted up the stairs and asked my mum while she was running a bath.

“It keeps the giraffe out,” she said matter-of-factly.

For the longest time, I had visions of a giraffe wandering around East Dulwich, sneaking into houses that weren’t lucky enough to be guarded by such a menacing stuffed snake. It was a long time before I realised that I had misheard what my mum had told me over the sound of running water, and that she’d actually said that “it keeps the draft out”.

I think this is such a lovely little story showing how things where much easier to belive when you where a child. For this story I want to try and make a pop-up book. It is a perfect story to make intoa pop-up book and there are lots of intresting different things i could do with it. I want to look at the children’s book and animation series Charlie and Lola. They have a lot of stories about childhood misunderstand and i think that could really help me with this story.

Suzanna’s Story

When my brother and I were very small, there was a spider that lived in a pot plant in our living room. My dad was determined that we wouldn’t be afraid of it, so he named the spider George and made up and impressive back story for him. Another spider emerged and was named Georgina, and before long all the spiders in the vicinity were given names all beginning with G, and slotted in to an intricate spider family.
Times passed, the pot plants eventually wilted or moved outside and the spider tales were replaced with Harry Potter and indie rock, until quite recently I discovered something in my living room and was so excited I called my brother in Scotland so that he, too, could hear the news. I had found a spider with the exact markings and size of George. Our long lost family had returned.

I really like this story and shows nicely how you never really forget things from your childhood and the excitment you get when you find smothing that you once loved yeas ago. Im not really sure what i will do with this story. Im thinking of possibaly making it into a book and using an intresting binding method but i also feel it would work well as an animation.

Nicola’s story

When i was little i won a fish from the carnival. i suppose from watching disney films i thought you could pick up and pet them like all other animals, so two days after getting it i reached into the tank and decided to try take it for a walk. it was so slippery i dropped it on the floor where it bounced around for two minutes before i eventually catched it and put it back in the tank. a few hours later my sister went down to our room and found the fish floating at the top of the tank with a huge black eye, and in hysterics told my mum and stepdad. when they questioned me about it, i did what any 6 year old would do, and blamed it on my sister.

This story made me laught as i spent most of my childhood blaming my brother for the bad things that i had done. I really feel that this would work well as an animation. taking insperation from the fish out of pinoccio as Nicola did in real life.

I really like the stories that i have recived so far. I did not expect there to be  runnig theme throught the stories i thought i would end up  with a ramdom collection of stories that people have giving me.  However I do like the fact that a theme has somehow managed to emereged conceting my stories together, I feel that i might try and ask people to try and continue with this theme.

I really like the stories that I have at the moment and feel that I will be able to do a lot with them. However I am staring to worry about the lack of stories in which i have.
